Cubic boron nitride (CBN) is a high-performance tool material from a polycrystalline mass, that similar to PCD is produced in a high temperature-pressure process. CBN, its hardnessonly surpassed by a diamond, is suitable for the machining of materials that cannot be machined with PCD or monocrystalline diamond.
CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) : CBN, the second hardest material after diamond, is commonly used in turning, grinding, and milling operations. It is ideal for machining hardened steels, cast irons, and tough materials, offering high thermal conductivity, low friction, and excellent wear resistance. CBN tools provide extended tool life and superior surface finishes, making them preferred over carbide tools in industries like automotive, aerospace, and heavy machinery.
PCD (Polycrystalline Diamond) : PCD, a synthetic material made of fine diamond crystals, is used for cutting non-ferrous metals like aluminum, copper, and brass. With high hardness, sharp edges, and superior wear resistance, PCD is ideal for machining materials that wear down other tools. It is widely used in industries such as automotive, electronics, and plastics.
